2012 Best PhD Paper Award

...for his paper entitled “Identifying Airspace Capacity Factors in the Air Traffic Management System”.

ATACCS`2012 was the second of a series of scientific conferences on the theme of automation with a particular focus on Air Traffic Management (ATM). Gonzalo’s award was for his paper entitled “Identifying Airspace Capacity Factors in the Air Traffic Management System” and was selected by an expert panel consisting of six academics, two industry representatives and a delegate from EUROCONTROL. The criteria for the award were novelty in technical content, potential practical impact and quality of presentation. The conference attracted 130 experts in ATM from 19 countries in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. The award comprised a Certificate and financial support to attend the prestigious EUROCONTROL-Federal Aviation Administration R&D Conference in Chicago in June 2013. Gonzalo’s supervisors, Dr. Arnab Majumdar, Professor Washington Ochieng and Dr. Wolfgang Schuster are delighted that his research effort has been recognised by the award. This is the second consecutive year that the best PhD Paper at the ATACCS conference has gone to a research student of The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust Transport Risk Management Centre, at Imperial
