Looking for an Internship to boost your future employability?

The Internship Fair on Thursday 15 February 2018 17:00-19:30 is designed to provide an opportunity for students to meet employers who are seeking to promote paid internships. A range of employers are attending, Dyson, EY, Intern Wave, Strategy&, among others. It will be a unique chance to have direct contact with employers and to ask any questions about their internship schemes. It is also a chance to make an impression, showcasing your skills and ambitions, which may prove helpful in any internship application.

It is worth attending this event if you want to increase your chances of landing a job after your studies. Internships or placements can make all the difference to your chances of success. Employers are increasingly using their internship schemes as a major recruitment tool for their graduate programmes. Whether you are a first year student seeking work experience, or you’re a final year student hoping to make a professional connection with an employer. Check out our guidance on Work Experience & Internships.

Previous interns have benefitted greatly from their internships. William, a third Year Aeronautics Student at Imperial, worked with MBDA missile systems. His advice to those hoping to find an internship is to “apply to as many suitable internships as possible, remembering that it is important to make your CV and cover letter stand out”. For advice on CVs and Cover letters see our guide.

I learnt how to think outside the box and be more self-confident

– Francesca, Third Year Materials Student

The Internship Careers Fair is also a great event to allow you to see what internships are available to you so that you can benefit from their positive impact on your career prospects. Reflecting on the benefits of his internship William points out that “it has been extremely useful to have a short 3 month taste of what working within MBDA is like, which makes the decision to commit to a 2 year long graduate program much easier”. Another intern, Francesca, Third Year Materials Student, took an internship with Rolls-Royce. She had a very positive experience, reflecting on how “it allows you to collaborate with senior employees who can give you very valuable advice for your future career…I learnt how to think outside the box and be more self-confident”. You can find more experiences like this on our website.
