Two Professors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial have been elected Fellows of the Combustion Institute.

Professor of Combustion William Jones received the fellowship for "brilliant research in the field of mathematical modelling of turbulent combustion and two-phase flows with reference to gas turbines".

Also on the list is Professor of Thermofluids Peter Lindstedt, who is being recognised for "groundbreaking research in the modelling of turbulent flames, and in chemical kinetics, especially soot formation".

The lifetime honorific title is awarded to members of the international combustion community for outstanding contributions to combustion, whether it be in research or in applications.
