Imperial’s campus newsletter launches with fresh new look

by

A reader and Reporter

The Reporter is celebrating its latest evolution, alongside a call for more voices from across the Imperial community.

For more than 20 years and over 300 Issues, Reporter has endeavoured to share stories from every corner of the Imperial Community.

It has welcomed new campuses, departments, faculties and staff; marked VIP visits from the Queen and the President of China amongst others; celebrated student victories in the Sydney Olympic Games and University Challenge; and brought some unusual and surprising stories, such as the filming of Basic Instinct II at the Faculty Building.

Following an extensive period of research and feedback, gathering focus-groups of readers, we’ve really tried to listen and get back to what readers want in a campus newspaper. In the re-launched addition and going forward, we’ll be bringing you more human stories and voices from all sections of our diverse and dynamic community.

Of course, we’ll still keep you up to date with news, coming and goings, awards and honours. But we might also point you to other sources such as the Imperial News website and Imperial Today e-newsletter for the very latest developments.

The point is, Reporter has the potential to keep growing and evolving as more people contribute and get involved. Indeed, potential is something of a running theme in the re-launch issue. From Campus Services, we have some new recruits from who are just starting to show their potential despite facing some additional challenges.

From the research side of things, we take a look at the field of gene therapy, which for 30 years has promised a revolution in medicine, and is starting to look like finally fulfilling that potential. Lastly, in each issue going forward we’re hoping to hear from some of our innovative teachers who will show how Imperial has the potential to become a trailblazer in new techniques and approaches to learning in the 21st Century. and

I hope you like it and please do get in touch!

The latest print edition is distributed across Imperial's Campuses and also available in digital pdf form here and also in the digital reader platform ISSUU
