Imperial students and staff, as well as members of the public, can now learn British Sign Language as part of the Lunchtime Learning programme.

Starting in October, Introduction to British Sign Language will run for 10 weeks and is suitable for complete beginners.

This engaging course, aimed at hearing people, aims to teach the basics of communication. The class will run for 50 minutes per week during one lunchtime, with participants encouraged to practice outside class.

British Sign Language is understood to be used as a first or second language by nearly 1/4 million people in the UK.

More information about the course can be found on the Introduction to British Sign Language course page.

Registration for places is now open.
