Summary

Alun Owen is Research Manager for the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.

He obtained a PhD in Developmental Neurobiology from Queen Mary College London and worked as a postdoctoral researcher for 6 years at King's College London investigating the mechanisms of degeneration which occur in Parkinson's disease.  This focused particularly on the long term biological effects of L-DOPA treatment.

Following this he moved to a post as Scientific Programme Officer at the Wellcome Trust, where for nearly 6 years he was responsible for the peer review and management of grants submitted to the Neurosciences Panel.

In August 2005 he joined NHLI as Research Manager, taking a lead in the management, improvement and co-ordination of grant applications from the Institute.  He works closely with the Head of Institute and the Institute Manager in matters of developing research strategy.

Alun can be contacted for assistance in any aspect of grant applications and for independent advice on matters of grants and fellowships.
