I am a Reader in Power Systems and the Course Director for MSc in Future Power Networks (FPN). My research interest includes power systems dynamics and stability, grid integration of renewable energy, wide-area control through HVDC/FACTS and demand response. I have been Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) Visiting Chair Professor at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.
I have published over 90 research papers in IEEE Transactions, IET Proceedings and leading international conferences. I have co-authored two books on Robust Control in Power Systems (Springer) and Multi-terminal Direct Current Grids (Wiley IEEE) and a book chapter on 'Integrating HVDC into AC Grid' in EPRI's HVDC Reference Book (2016 edition).
I am a Fellow of the IET, Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of Cigre. I serve as an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid and an Associate Editor of IEEE Systems Journal and Elsevier Control Engineering Practice.
PhD studentships are available for outstanding candidates with Masters level (e.g. MSc, M Tech) qualification and specialisation in power systems. Candidates must have experience of modelling and simulation of power systems with power electronic components (HVDC, FACTS) and preferably, publication(s) in reputed international forum.
