After graduating from the College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering at Hohai University in 2008, Dr Han joined the Research Institute of Hydraulic Structure at the same University, as a Research Assistant concentrating on the finite element analysis of large-scale hydraulic structures, and received his MSc in 2010. In the same year, he came to the Department of Civil Engineering at Imperial College to undertake research on hydro-mechanical coupled numerical analysis of the dynamic behaviour of geotechnical structures by using the bespoke finite element code ICFEP.
Since 2014, Dr Han has been a member of the academic staff at Geotechnics Section, responsible for teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in geotechnical earthquake engineering and soil slope stability. His research interests are focused on soil dynamics and geotechnical earthquake engineering, particularly on numerical safety assessment of the seismic performance of geotechnical structures.
