AB - Thermal energy storage is a key technology for addressing the challenge of fluctuating renewable energy generation and waste heat availability, and for alleviating the mismatch between energy supply and demand. Thanks to their simple construction, operation and low costs, sensible heat storage solutions have been widely used in many applications. This chapter aims to introduce sensible heat storage and to summarize its industrial application at high temperatures (> 300 °C).
