Research Interests
My research is focussed on the engineering of catalytic processes. This involves new process concepts for improved atom economy, the development of new, but industrially practical, catalysts, the study and modelling of reaction kinetics in laboratory-scale catalytic reactors, the development of methodologies for efficient catalyst recycle, and the understanding of catalyst deactivation processes. This is applied in the areas of: magnetic microparticle catalyst supports; production of fine chemicals, and pharmaceutical intermediates; liquid biphase catalytic processes; oxidation and selective hydrogenation; natural gas conversion and CO2 utilisation; clean energy and refining processes; and environmental catalysis.
