I am a PhD student in Nina Thornhill's Process Automation Group and the Centre for Process Systems Engineering (PSE) in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

My research is in "Fault propagation, detection, and analysis in process systems" and my current efforts are in and around what are called structural digraphs and Bayesian (statistical) networks so as to model connectivity, causality and inference. The aim is to find ways to figure out what disturbance or fault events might have caused or contributed to any untoward effects that propagate around a process plant and hence disrupt its safe and economic operation.

You can find out more about my work on Research Gate and if you want to know more you can email me -  I'm very happy to talk about what I'm trying to do.

BRIEF BIO

I was born and brought up in Rawmarsh, Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, and went to Wath-Upon-Dearne Comprehensive School.

Before I went to university I was an apprentice at British Steel Rotherham and since I graduated I have worked in systems & control, software engineering, and mathematical & statistical modelling, simulation and optimisation.

I am a chartered engineer and scientist and my academic and industrial interests span a wide range of topics in science, software, and systems. I'm married to Katy and we live in Cambridgeshire.
