Summary

Damiano is a PhD candidate in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at Imperial College Business School. His research is focused on how networks affect entrepreneurship and innovation: it aims to highlight different facets of networks importance for companies’ success - mainly the relevance of specific networking behaviors, of the locations where networking takes place, and of network cognition. Damiano studies these subjects from a quantitative point of view, exploiting machine learning and natural language processing methods, often relying on online data. He presented his works at DRUID, and at the Academy of Management (AOM), where his work has been selected as one of the Best Papers in the Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) division.

Damiano has served as a teaching assistant in the Strategy module of the Global MBA program, in the Entrepreneurship module of the MSc in Management, and for the Quantitative Methods module in the MRes program. He collaborated with the Entrepreneurial Strategy module as a judge for the final startup pitches of the course. He also served as Chair of the Student Staff Committee of the PhD program.

Damiano holds an MRes in Business (awarded with distinction and winner of the Best Project Prize) from Imperial College, an MSc in Innovation Management (cum laude) from the University of Trento and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, a BA (cum laude) from the University of Pisa and was an Honor Student at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna during the course of his undergraduate and graduate studies. Prior to joining Imperial College, he worked at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and for Venture Factory, a venture fund focused on technology transfer.
