Computing and Numerical Methods 1 - AERO40003
This course introduces basic computing and programming skills for the solution of engineering problems. Assuming no prior knowledge, it introduces students to the key constructs and thought processes required in order to construct complex algorithms using the MATLAB and Python scripting languages. Numerical methods for interpolation, numerical integration and root finding are discussed and implemented.
Mechanics - AERO40007
This module covers Classical Mechanics: Statics, Kinematics and Dynamics. The module provides a basis for subsequent courses in structural mechanics and dynamics, and flight mechanics which are taught in later years. The subjects covered include Newtonian physics, gravitation, friction, variational mechanics, simple motion, particle dynamics, vibrations, energy and momentum methods and basic orbital mechanics.
