Eduardo Seleiro is the Scientific Manager for the MRC Centre for Environment and Health and the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Chemical and Radiation Threats and Hazards. Together with the closely-related NIHR HPRU in Environmental Exposures and Health, also hosted in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, these units form a major research cluster for the study of the health effects of environmental hazards of major public health and scientific importance.
His role is to manage the operations of these two units and coordinate the activities of the various partners, including research groups at ICL, Public Health England, King’s College London, and the MRC Toxicology Unit at the University of Cambridge, and to promote collaborations with other related MRC units and centres and NIHR HPRUs.
Prior to joining ICL in February 2019, Ed worked as a Scientific Officer supporting the Director of the International Agency for Research on Cancer, in Lyon France, and before that as a Senior Scientific Information Officer in several international law firms in London.
He has a research background in developmental biology, with a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University College London and working as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute for Medical Research.
