Summary

Erik Chavez is pursuing his PhD with Grantham Institute funding based at the Centre for Environmental Policy (Imperial College London) and Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris.

Erik has a background in Engineering specialized in biophysics, and completed an MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial College London before starting his PhD.  His research focuses in the development of extreme climatic events risk transfer instruments and mitigation and has applications in the areas of insurance/reinsurance and early warning systems.

In particular, his research project focuses in the development of risk transfer and mitigation instruments for vulnerable rural populations in China.
