Summary

Overview

My research interests cover a broad range of buoyancy-driven flows, including stratified turbulence and mixing, energetics, convection, plumes and jets, internal gravity waves, stratified exchange flows and interaction of flow with topography. I seek to understand the physics governing these flows in a wide variety of environmental, engineering and geophysical applications. Current work is examining questions relating to energy efficiency and the built environment, indoor and outdoor environmental quality, solar thermal power generation and ocean mixing.

  • Gravity current
  • Concentrating solar thermal energy
  • Rayleigh-BĂ©nard convection
  • Horizontal convection
  • Stratified turbulent mixing
  • Stratified flow over topography
