Summary
Gihan Ryu is the Research Facilities Technician in Plastic Electronics and his main roles are to manage the CPE shared labs in the Physics Department and new postgraduate students training. He will advise and support research staff/students on the implementation of experimental protocols and advise on the design of new equipment, and on the purchasing of components/materials for new/upgraded equipment.
He had PhD in Physics at Korea Advance Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and worked at LG Cable. He was involved in the LCD backlight enhancement technology and optical components development such as laser diode and photodiode for telecommunication. After then he joined Imperial College as a Post-Doc (Donal Bradley’s Group) and he did research of organic laser and amplifier. Before take this position Gihan worked at Molecular Vision (MV, a spin-off company from Imperial) for 11 years as a Principal Scientist. He has involved pioneering signal detection technology development for medical diagnostic applications using OLED/OPD pair. He produced 7 patents while working in the MV.
