John is the NHS Support Librarian at St Mary's Fleming Library. He has a wide ranging role in helping NHS staff and students in their information needs.
Amongst these, and most popular, is his role as information skills trainer. Here, in one-to-one sessions, search strategies are developed using medical databases, so that users retrieve relevant material for research and project work.
He is also available to go through with you how to effectively search Google and Google Scholar using advanced features.
Other work includes inductions and talks introducing you to library services, as well as using current awareness resources and most recently facilitating in Critical Appraisal group sessions. See the NHS Training page in the College website for more details.
And finally John is responsible for buying books for the NHS community - book suggestions are welcome.
To finish, John has been working at St Mary's since 1997, then even further back at the Brompton.
