Summary

Summary

My principal research area of interest is the evidence base for practice in vascular and endovascular surgery, through randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews.  On-going trials include the EVAR trials, the IMPROVE trial for ruptured aneurysms and the AARDVARK trial (effect of ACE inhibitors on small aneurysm growth) about to start.  My other research interests are in the pathogenesis and genetics of abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Recent evidence based projects include the European guidelines for the management of abdominal aortic aneurysm and vascular surgical components of the the Map of Medicine.  I am an associate editor for the European Journal of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery and am on the editorial board of Circulation and ATVB.
