Summary

Dr Kenji Wakabayashi is a clinician scientist with a background in Paediatrics.  He received his MD from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2002 and following the clinical training in Paediatrics in Japan, he joined Imperial in 2007.

Kenji is a member of the Critical Care Research group at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and received PhD from Imperial College in 2012.  In his PhD project, he pursued the pathophysiology and basic mechanisms of acute lung injury (ALI).  As a postdoctoral research fellow, he expanded his perspective to the therapeutic aspects, and paricularly interested in the novel therapeutic approach for acid aspiration induced lung injury, which is a major issue in the ICU setting.

Kenji is currently working at Tokyo Medical and Dental University in Japan as an assistant professor at the Office for Global Education and Career Development.  His current main interests include medical education, pulmonary hypertension, and neonatal lung injury.  He has been involved in the organisacion committee of the highly popular internatonal exchange programme between Imperial and Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
