Summary
Maria Ribera Vicent is a senior teaching fellow in the Department of Aeronautics of Imperial College since 2017.
Maria graduated with a BSc in Aerospace Engineering from Saint Louis University, followed by a MSc and PhD also in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, specialising in Rotorcraft. Upon relocating to the UK, she worked as a Rolls-Royce Research Fellow at the University of Southampton for 5 years, concentrating in advanced optimisation techniques. Following a career break for caring purposes, she then obtained a Daphne Jackson Fellowship to work at the Surrey Space Centre of the University of Surrey.
Maria's research interests are in the areas of helicopter flight dynamics and optimisation.
Maria is also the Department's Athena Swan champion, co-chairs the Equality, Diversity, Communications, Culture and Inclusion Committee and is the Departmental Year Abroad Coordinator.
