Project Name: Human Dental Pulp Stem Cell Characterisation and Osteogenic Differentiation into 3D Bone Matrix in Vitro and in Vivo
Chilean scholar PhD candidate in Tissue Engineering at Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London.
My research interest is to characterize human Dental Pulp Stem Cells (hDPSCs) and study the differentiability of this cell type into bone tissue by testing different culture systems as well as differentiation triggers.
The ultimate aim of this study, is to produce a functional bio-mimicking, bio-material for bone tissue replacement. Furthermore, this to be a feasible clinical treatment in regenerative medicine.
Since 2012 and under the supervision of Prof. Athanasios Mantalaris and Prof. Xuebin Yang, I have been part of a multi disciplinary research programme. The research aims for biological solutions for medical problems. This held at the Biological System Engineering Laboratory, Centre for Process Systems Engineering at Imperial College London.
