Dr Nicolas Hadjipantelis is Research Associate in the Structures Section of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London in affiliation with the Data-Centric Engineering programme at the Alan Turing Institute.
His research activity lies in the area of steel structures and includes experimental, numerical and analytical work on cold-formed and hot-rolled steel, prestressed steel structures and metal 3D printing. He has also actively participated in the final full-scale loading tests on the MX3D bridge, the first metal 3D printed pedestrian bridge in the world.
Dr Hadjipantelis holds a PhD in Steel Structures from Imperial College London, for which he was awarded an Imperial College President’s Scholarship. As part of his undergraduate studies at the University of Bristol, where he obtained a first class honours MEng degree in Civil Engineering, he studied and conducted research for an academic year at the University of California, Berkeley.
As Principal Investigator, Dr Hadjipantelis has secured funding from the Dame Julia Higgins Postdoc Fund. He has also been awarded the 3rd Prize for his oral presentation at the 20th Young Researchers’ Conference of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), as well as the Student Prize from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) for being the student best in performance in the last two years of his undergraduate course.
Dr Hadjipantelis is an Associate Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), a Graduate Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and a reviewer for several key international structural engineering journals. He has had substantial engagement in teaching and research supervision, for which he has been awarded the Assistant Supervisor title from Imperial College London.
