Summary

After completing his PhD, entitled "Development and application of correlative STED and AFM to investigate neuronal cells" at the University of Cambridge Nathan came to Imperial College as a research associate in the biophotonics group, with a view to developing faster microscopes for biological investigations.

Working in collaboration with the institute of cancer research Nathan is working on developing the hardware and software of an oblique plane microscope for high content screening of cell morphologies and metastisis.

On the hardware side this has involved optimising the instrument for compatibility with live cells, improving acquisition parameters to maximise speed and the addition of a third detection channel. On the software side this has involved developing methods for cell segmentation and tracking in 3D.
