Nils is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, funded by BASF.

He comes from Germany and studied Mechanical Engineering here, at Imperial College London (MEng 2014) with a Master's Thesis numerically investigating the effects of transient irradiation on a transluscent thermoplastic.

He is working with Prof Guillermo Rein in the area of Flame Retardant Polymers. His PhD thesis focuses on understanding the mechanisms involved in flame retardant additives to improve the fire safety of polymers.
