Summary
Peter Higgs manages the research for both the Rolls-Royce Vibration University Technology Centre and the Dynamics group in Mechanical Engineering department. Sponsors include Rolls-Royce plc, Innovate UK, EPSRC and EU Horizon 2020. We currently receive about £3m funding per year, and have 16 staff and 14 PhD students, as well as MSc and visiting students .
Peter was an Imperial undergraduate in Aeronautical Engineering department in the ’80s, and returned to Imperial in 2008 to take this role in Mechanical Engineering. Since 2017, also has a seperate financial management role with the Transport Strategy Centre in Civil Engineering department. Between Oct 2020 and Jan 2022 covered a departmental finance role, until new recruitment took place.
He has more than 30 years experience working both in industry and university sectors. He has a lifelong passion for aircraft and their engines. He has experience with finance, purchasing, audit, ICT and business continuity planning.
