Overview

Professor Lagergren became a registered nurse in 1999 and doctor of medicine (Ph.D. in surgery) in 2006 at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Thereafter, she conducted a post-doc period during 1.5 years at the University of Bristol, UK, in 2006-2007. She became associate professor in 2010 and full professor of surgical care science in 2011 at Karolinska Institutet.

At Karoliniska Institutet, Professor Lagergren leads a successful research group within surgical care science. Her main research area is cancer survivorship including health-related quality of life (HRQOL), particularly in patients with cancer of the oesophagus. Her research also involves methodological development of the use and management of patient-reported outcome data with the aim of facilitating the interpretation of results.

In her position as Chair in surgical care sciences at Imperial College London she aims to develop the research area of cancer survivorship at the Department of Surgery and Cancer.
