Summary

Consultant Chemical Pathologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Metabolic Medicine. Clinical lead in chemical pathology at St Mary's hospital. Director of Specialist Analytical and Advisory Service (SAAS) for Bone Biomarkers.

Specialist clinical interests include metabolic bone disease with a weekly metabolic bone clinic and also critical care with a focus on metabolic disorders in intensive care medicine. 

Research interests include genomics of sepsis - as co-principal investigator in a study of the Genetics of Sepsis in Europe (GenoSept) and on management committee of a UK study Genetic Advances in Sepsis (GAinS), biomarker discovery involving metabolomics and proteomics in critical care and metabolic bone disease and clinical studies of the use of biomarkers in metabolic bone disease. Also involved in studies of novel point-of-care devices for use in a variety of clinical settings including disaster and emergency medicine and in primary care.

Published works include clinical biochemistry in medicine, specialist areas in metabolic and intensive care medicine and point-of-care testing in critical care.
