Roan is a third year PhD student at Imperial College London researching the trade-off between the yield and the environmental impact of tidal-turbine arrays, with a studentship from NERC DTP's Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet (SSCP). Roan is a member of the Applied Modelling and Computation Group (AMCG) within the department of Earth Science and Engineering. Here Roan sits on both the Athena Swan panel and the Graduate Society committee within his department, and sits on the SSCP committee as Ambassador for his cohort.
Roan graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2012 with an MMath where he was awarded the Napier Medal for the candidate with the most distinguished performance in their masters year. His research here focused on differential topology and Morse theory.
