Summary

The development of high-throughput/next-generation sequencing technologies has provided an unprecedented opportunity to study the evolution and molecular epidemiology of eukaryotic pathogens. My research uses these technologies to describe and characterize new patterns of genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic variation between and within populations of microbial pathogens and to link these to disease processes. I aim to continue to develop new approaches to study the evolution of infectious diseases with the goal of identifying new phenotypic determinants, and ultimately alleviating disease.
