Summary
Susy trained in Medicine at Cambridge University and Imperial College and was appointed as a Consultant Physician in the Department of Medicine for the Elderly at St. Mary's Hospital in 2013. She was awarded a PhD in 2011 "Measuring and Improving Safety and Quality of Care in Older Medical Patients" supervised by Professor Charles Vincent and Dr. Diane Ames at the Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality, Imperial College. She has developed new retrospective case record review tools to measure the safety and quality of care that frail older people receive in hospital and is currently working on developing these further, with the aim of improving care for this vulnerable group. She is a patient safety lead for the British Geriatrics Society, representing them on NHS England's Medical Patient Safety Expert Group and has worked as an expert advisor for the Health Foundation's online Patient Safety resource centre. She is the NIHR CRN Clinical Specialty Research Lead for Ageing in North West London. She also has a strong interest in medical education and is F1 Training Programme Director at St. Mary's Hospital and lead for the Ageing and Societies module of the Imperial MSc in Health Policy.
