AB - © OSA 2018. We demonstrate experimentally that spatio-temporal instabilities of broad-area semiconductor lasers are strongly suppressed in microcavities with chaotic ray-dynamics. This stabilization of lasing dynamics is attributed to the modifications of the nonlinear interaction of the lasing modes.
