Engineering Mathematics - DE1-MEM

Aims

 This module introduces mathematics as a logical and structured discipline. It aims to ensure that all students who (as assessed by a diagnostic test in week 2) need extra work on Applied Mathematics acquire the applied mathematical knowledge and skills required for their first year design engineering modules. Engineering Mathematics also provides a basis for the more advanced mathematical techniques required in the second, third and fourth year of the course.

Energy Systems Technology - SEF01

Aims

The purpose of the module is to convey the fundamentals of modern/future energy systems in terms of their technical properties and economic and environmental impacts. Technologies/systems considered include solar photovoltaic electricity generation, fuel cells and hydrogen for stationary and transport electricity generation and wind power. The module will also consider estimation of energy resources and demands along with the main sources of data and methods for analysis.
