Soft-switching techniques can improve DC/DC power converter's efficiency and reduce its EMI. The method is attractive to the unity-power-factor AC/DC converter in the view of the EMC requirement for lower switching noise. A soft-switched boost converter has been studied in topology analysis, PSPICE simulation and circuit experiment. The reduction effects of AC/DC converter EMI emission by using soft-switching techniques and its limitation are investigated.

A predicted control scheme of shunt active power filter with artificial neural network has been presented, which is suitable to the motor driver with frequent speed/torque changes. Based on the artificial neural network, the active power filter can work properly to cancel load's line harmonic current. Only few readily available parameters are used in the method.
