© OSA 2016. We measure the temporal profile of a 600 μJ hollow fiber supercontinuum spanning 640-2600 nm. At the fiber output, we observe extreme self-steepening and self-compression. The pulse is suitable for multi-channel compression to the sub-cycle regime.

We generate 9 fs 1.7 μm 360 μJ pulses by hollow fiber compression. Complete 3D simulations show good agreement across a range of fiber pressures and elucidate the role of shock formation and Kerr effect saturation.

We investigate the performance and carrier-envelope phase (CEP) stability of hollowfiber pulse compression for high-energy, close to single-cycle duration pulses. We find the onset of an ionization-induced CEP instability, which saturates above 1.25mJ.

We report the generation and characterization of isolated attosecond XUV andVUV pulses generated simultaneously via HHG driven by few-cycle pulses using anin-line dual gas target system. One gas jet target was operated with Kr gasthat optimized HHG in the 15-25 eV photon energy range (VUV), whilst the secondgas jet target was operated in Ne gas to optimize the high harmonic generationaround 90 eV (XUV). Appropriate filters were used to isolate the requiredspectral components to synthesize isolated pulses. Sn and In filters were usedfor the VUV region while a Zr filter was used for the XUV. We characterizedboth the XUV and VUV pulses independently using the attosecond streakingtechnique and the LSGPA retrieval algorithm obtaining a 1.7$\pm$0.2 fs pulseusing the In filter and a 616$\pm$50 as pulse using Sn, while preserving a266$\pm$10 as isolated XUV pulse.
