The results of researches being carried out on 'glycome', a group of oligosaccharide structures found in the organism, were presented. The neoglycoplipid (NGL) technology, was developed for lipid-linked oligosaccharides probes from glycoproteins for studying their interactions with carbohydrate recognizing proteins. The uses of NGL technology as the basis of a carbohydrate microarray system for generating large repertoires of immobilized oligosaccharides probes required for the detection of carbohydrate protein interactions, were also discussed. It was shown that these repertoires of NGLs are robust probes when presented on nitrocellulose membranes.
