AB - This paper presents an overview of glass composite materials (GCM) development in radioactive waste immobilisation. The different types of GCM and different production methods are discussed including the composition of glass used as well as the immobilised radioactive waste. Preliminary results are also presented on development of low pressure, low temperature sintered glass composites for immobilising spent clinoptilolite arising from water treatment facilities and radionuclide partitioning.
