EMTElectromagnetic theory underpins optics and photonics and is actively developed as we strive to push the frontiers of knowledge and to develop new technology for real-world applications.

We are developing electromagnetic theoretical treatments of a range of phenomena ranging from metamaterials and astrophysical manifestations of negative refractive index to radiometry, coherence theory, optical encoders and microscopy.

We are also involved with the EU project “NanoPrim”, which focuses on detection of nanoparticles. For this we study, both numerically and experimentally, the change of the electromagnetic field for single and multiple nanoparticle scattering.
