Expertise and experience of the participating organisation

We have prepared and studied single trapped atoms in magneto-optical traps and optical traps since about 1995; we have performed photon correlation experiments with single trapped neutral atoms; studied cold collisions with countable numbers of atoms; realized continuous transport of a single atom with an optical conveyor belt; performed spectroscopy on qubit states of single neutral atoms in a dipole trap.

Key in-house equipment for the project execution includes diode laser systems for spectroscopy and cooling of caesium, rubidium; laser systems for dipole trapping of atoms; UHV apparatus; data acquisition systems.
