DUGS and Senior Tutor
DIRECTOR OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES, DR BOB FORSYTH
The DUGS heads the teaching team, and leads the development and running of UG Teaching. He represents the Department on several Faculty and College committees, supplies much documentation for Registry, and organises the Department’s accreditation and quality assurance procedures. With support from the Teaching Committee, he chooses lecturers for courses, demonstrators, Heads of Lab and other activities, and manages a large annual budget paying for three teaching laboratories, three lecture theatres and the Computing Suite.
SENIOR TUTOR, PROF JING ZHANG
The Senior Tutor has responsibility for course advice and student welfare, handling many student matters both personal and collective. He deals with many mitigating circumstances and confidential matters, and frequently writes letters of reference. As a permanent member of the Staff/Student Committee, he is a major route for student opinion to be put into effect.
UNDERGRADUATE ADMINISTRATION OFFICE, Laura Kington and Kayleigh Murphy
The UG Admin Office has contact with students, academic and other staff, and the general public. They produce and distribute hard copies of course materials to students, demonstrators etc. They often receive and process reports and problem sheets which are submitted to a deadline. They co-ordinate many aspects of student records for the Department, including registration forms, tutorial reports, student files etc. In the absence of a formal reception facility in the department, they regularly deal with enquiries from the general public in person and over the phone. One acts as minutes secretary to the Teaching Committee, while the other acts as secretary to the Staff/Student Committee. Laura acts as co-ordinator for students abroad on the Year in Europe degree programme. Kayleigh acts as co-ordinator for the Physics with Science Education degree programmes.
UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION MANAGER, DERRYCK STEWART
The UG Education Manager's chief task is to ensure the successful implementation of teaching requirements in the Department, and has frequent contact with staff and students on a wide variety of issues. He is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient coordination of all undergraduate courses. He constructs the UG timetable and manages the online UG attendance system.

ADMISSIONS TUTOR, DR JULIET PICKERING
The Admissions Tutor heads a small team of academics who interview virtually all UG applicants. She is largely responsible for admissions policy, makes offers to applicants and monitors intakes.
ADMISSIONS AND DISABILITIES OFFICER, MERY FAJARDO
The Admissions and Disabilities Officer deals with applicants on a daily basis up till their first week as students, including organising interviews and campus tours, creating and administering a database. In addition she also manages the academic needs of our students with disabilities.
EXAMINATIONS CO-ORDINATOR, PROFESSOR DAVID COLLING
The Exams Co-ordinator has academic oversight of the whole examinations procedure, processing marks, ensuring appropriate weightings are applied and aggregate marks correctly recorded.
EXAMINATIONS AND INFORMATION OFFICER, Victor Urubusi
The Examinations and Information Officer has day-to-day management of the examinations process, bringing together exam materials, arranging exam sessions and co-ordinating marking. He also manages the student database and co-ordinates teaching materials for the website and Admin Office.
