Research profile
Experimental soft condensed matter physics: colloidal & polymer physics; rheology and flow-induced structure of complex fluids, in particular colloidal & surfactant liquid-crystalline phases; structural determination with small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering; novel dynamic light scattering techniques; microfluidics.
Current research
As a research associate at Imperial College I am working on a project funded by Procter & Gamble. The aim is to develop microfluidic techniques in order to study industrially-relevant surfactant mixtures under real processing conditions (high temperatures and flow rates). Due to high surfactant concentrations and the multi-component nature of these mixtures, flow very often leads to phase separation. By using microfluidics in combination with scattering techniques such as small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering, I am able to study their structure and multiphase flow behaviour when subjected to tuneable flow fields.
