Programme Management Office (PMO)
Supporting academic driven initiatives across Imperial College London
The PMO has a strong track record of delivering programmes and projects from the early initiation and proposal stages through to funding as well as operational delivery, including development of the supporting business case, financial planning and commercial due diligence.
Purpose The PMO provides support for the management and administration of collaborative research programmes and commercial projects delivered in support of academic-driven initiatives across Imperial.
Approach Our dedicated team includes expertise in supporting major collaborative programmes, managing research and commercial projects and delivering efficient administrative and commercial support to academic teams. The team has a deep understanding and experience of EU (European Union) funding schemes, including Horizon2020.
Benefits The combined team creates a critical mass of management and administration expertise to operate with agility and serve the academic community at Imperial. The PMO operates according to a structured approach based on recognised and robust processes to ensure benefits are realised and risks are managed properly.
PMO core capabilities are in consortium management, project management and commercial services that are underpinned by process and systems management. The PMO approach allows portfolio level oversight of programmes and projects so that academics (principal investigators) across Imperial are provided with high quality management and administration support.
The PMO team provides academics and external funders with an interface for other key professional service teams at Imperial and is also able to provide contractual support to the initiatives it delivers. PMO undertakes process mapping and systems management for the wider Enterprise Division, including documenting work flows as well as coordinating the division’s use of CRM (customer relationship management) and project management ICT systems.
