Libraries' summer building work8-2 July and 15-19 JulyThe joint library building will be closed in the mornings while heavy demolition work takes place on the roof. It will be open on these dates in the afternoons from 14.00-17.30 hours. Saturday 29 June The library will be closed for re-location of the issue desk and security system. On all other Saturdays the Library will be open 09.30-17.30 hours. Entrance During the summer vacation entry to the Library will be via the Sherfield Building, level 2. The Library regrets that the building work will continue throughout the summer.
Commemoration Day - date changePlease note that the date of Commemoration Day this year has had to be changed from Thursday 24 October to Thursday 31 October.
Roller-bladingFollowing a number of roller-blading incidents resulting in injury on the South Kensington campus, the Estates Division would like to remind staff and students that roller-blading and roller-skating are forbidden on College premises.

Staff courses'Optimise and survive the working day' courses will take place on 4,11 and 18 July. Designed for academic staff who are performing multiple roles and who are trying to achieve more, and better, results in less time.'Facing the media I - TV and radio' course will take place on 16 July. For those academic staff who would like the opportunity to build their confidence and practise their skills in dealing with the press, radio and television media. 'Facing the media II - the telephone interview' course will take place on 17 July. For academic staff who may be contacted by press or radio journalists in search of a telephone interview. Would you like the opportunity to train as an electronic engineering technician?Imperial College are offering a bursary and four years' full-time training to 16-18 year olds, leading to BTEC qualifications in electronic engineering. An opportunity exists to join our electronic engineering student technicians training programme, commencing in September 1996.The successful candidates will gain practical work experience and training in different electronics workshops within Imperial College. Sponsored part-time study for appropriate BTEC/HNC qualifications will be provided. The placements in departments provide an excellent learning environment and experience in a wide range of electronic engineering and computing support activities as demanded by a research and teaching university. Applicants should possess a minimum of five GCSEs including Mathematics (at grade C or above), English and Physics. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a practical aptitute and interest in their chosen field. Student technicians will receive a tax free bursary starting at £5,125 in year one (to be reviewed in the next academic year). Applications should be received by Wednesday 31 July. Are you interested in training as a life science technician?Imperial College are offering a bursary and four years' full-time training to 16-18 year olds, leading to BTEC qualifications in biological sciences. An opportunity exists for two people to join our technicians training programme. Both vacancies are for life science student technicians commencing from September 1996.The successful candidates will be expected to gain a range of basic and more specialised laboratory skills while working in various departments throughout the College. This will be in both the biological departments of the College and the medical laboratories. Sponsored part-time study for appropriate BTEC qualifications will be provided. Applicants should possess a minimum of five GCSEs, including Mathematics, English, Chemistry and Biology and if selected will receive a tax free bursary starting at £5,125 in year one. Applications should be received by Friday 19 July. Interviews will be held in the week beginning Monday 29 July.
