Work related stress, depression, eating disorders, bereavement, anger, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, harassment, relationship problems, exam worries, career concerns, bullying, low self-esteem, panic attacks. You can find help with all these and other issues at CONTACT, an independent and confidential counselling service available to all staff of Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust and associated institutions, including Imperial staff working in the Trust’s hospitals. Appointments are available at Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals. For more information or to make an appointment telephone 0181-383 2747. A 24-hour answerphone is also available. Learn to relax

Family exchange

A 17-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl from Spain would like to take part in a three-week exchange. During July and August they will be at coastal La Manga with their family, Murcia - 100 km from Alicante Airport, with direct flights from London. Leverhulme grants

The Leverhulme Trust invites applications from individuals for research grants of up to £15,000 for a principal investigator to assess and demonstrate the feasibility of a project over, typically, six months. The criteria and application procedures are the same as those governing grants to institutions for research. BMS seeks new drug targets

Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is visiting the College in June to make a presentation on the drug discovery and development process, including its COMET programme - a scheme to work with academic research staff to identify molecular targets amenable to ‘high throughput’ drug screening. BMS is also seeking to recruit PhD chemists. If you would like to hear a presentation, especially if your research has identified a potential drug target, please contact Patricia Latter at IC Innovations at platter@rpms.ac.uk, to let her know your availability on 9, 10 and 11 June. Presentations will then be arranged.

Teaching development grants

Applications are invited for 10 new £5,000 teaching development grants supported by LINKED (London Imperial Network for Education) and Tim Clark, pro rector (educational quality). Successful projects will promote excellence in teaching focused on student learning; facilitate dissemination of best practice, and enhance the status of teaching in accordance with Dearing recommendations.
