Hazardous and toxic wastes total 30 tonnes a year

Students studying the MSc in Environmental Technology - Business and Environment option in the TH Huxley School, learned that toxic and hazardous wastes produced at the South Kensington campus total 3,000 tonnes a year.

In a talk given by the campus and environmental department of the estates division, Brian Hill-Samuel, campus and environmental manager, and his assistant, Sangita Kerai, an overview of the total wastes generated in the United Kingdom, Greater London and the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea as one of the two local boroughs serving Imperial College.

Brian Lasselle, energy manager, also spoke about energy policy and energy saving measures. The recent talks formed part of a module in Environmental Auditing in which students audit a College department. After four years of auditing academic departments, Catering and Conferences has been selected this year.
