Appointment to advisory committee on pesticides

Professor Graham Matthews, professor of pest management at Silwood Park, is one of six new members to be appointed to the government advisory committee on pesticides for three years.

Announcing the appointment of Professor David Coggon as chairman, together with several other new members of the committee, Baroness Hayman, Minister of State, said: "I am confident the committee, under its new chairmanship, will continue its excellent work to fulfill the role of providing sound scientific advice on all matters relating to the control of pesticides."

The committee was established under the Food and Environment Protection Act. Its membership provides a wide range of medical and environmental expertise independent of government and the agrochemical industry.
