The purpose of this course is to learn how to build a program from scratch, issues to be considered before writing a code and basic steps a programmer should follow to successfully find a solution.
We will first present an overview of R tools focusing on those that will be more useful when programming.
It is possible to solve complex problems a few but important programming tools. We will show some techniques that can be used in several situations.
This is a 1 day session and there are no formal pre-requisites. Attending our Introduction to R course, or possessing some knowledge of R, would be an advantage.
Course Outline 2016/17
- Basic operations with vectors and matrices.
- Ways of accessing elements of vectors and matrices.
- Introduction to the most important program control structures.
- Vectorization and Pre-allocation.
- Writing a code more efficiently.
- Basic steps for writing an R function.
