Barbara is currently an MSc student in Advanced Chemical Engineering (Structured Product Engineering) at Imperial College. She completed dual undergraduate program: Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Minor in Materials Science and Engineering from Columbia University, New York, United States (2016). Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Engineering from Rollins College, Florida, United States with a concentration in Chemistry (2016). Her research experience during undergraduate studies involved developing soft materials for renewable energy applications (Columbia University, USA) and organic chemistry synthesis (Jacobs University Bremen, Germany) and internships on research and development of polymeric encapsulation for agricultural applications (BASF, Germany) as well as surface engineering research (SCHOTT AG, Germany).

Her MSc research project is on design and applications of nanostructured battery materials for energy conversion and storage, under the supervision of Dr. Qilei Song.
