Who should attend

This course will help you to improve your communication skills so that you may have more effective working relationships. You will look at the positive effects of behaving assertively and develop effective communication techniques. The course will help you to gain some insights about yourself by giving you a safe opportunity to examine how you relate to others. The third session will give you an opportunity for review, allow you to brush up on your skills and focus on any areas of specific concern.

  • Distinguishing between positive and negative styles of communication
  • Recognising your own preferred styles of behaviour
  • Enabling effective communication through understanding our own and others' behaviour, and managing how we work with others
  • Plan, carry out and review a personal communication exercise

Further information

Please note that this course has 3 parts consisting of 2 full days and one half day. Delegates are required to attend all 3 parts; A delegate may incur a cancellation charge if they miss any one of the three parts. Our alternative course "Communicating for results" is recommended as a one day introduction to Communication Skills.
The Springboard Women’s Development Programme is recommended as an alternative for female staff.
