Effective leadership and management is vital to the success of Imperial today and for the future. It is an organisational imperative that drives long term collaboration, innovation and great results and so Imperial expects its academic and professional leaders and managers to inspire, empower and facilitate excellent performance.

Leaders and managers are expected to develop the key skills, knowledge and behaviours to ensure they can deliver high impact, quality work in a way that fosters creativity, teamwork and collective achievement while also recognising individual contributions.

The Imperial Leadership and Management Development Programme supports and develops Imperial leaders and managers from their initial steps into management through to senior roles. Its intent is to create a cohort of managers that others want to work with who are focused on both results and people.
The programme is based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for management and leadership, well established research and psychometrics and is accredited with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
The ILMDP will deliver:

  • Effective leaders and managers
  • Impactful performance
  • Joined up thinking

The programme consists of core and elective elements using a rich mix of approaches including interactive workshops, psychometrics, coaching and feedback. The emphasis throughout is on:
